We ventured into the woods at night, and emerged victorious. The stakes were high, but we went higher.

A Laetiporus sulphureus is a species of bracket fungus found in Europe and North America. Its common names are crab-of-the-woods, sulphur polypore, sulphur shelf, and chicken-of-the-woods. Its fruit bodies grow as striking golden-yellow shelf-like structures on tree trunks and branches.

1 cup butter

2 cups flour

2 tablespoons salt

2 tablespoons paprika

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups buttermilk
